DENR allots P49.2 million for protected areas

The Department Of Environmental and Natural Resources (DENR) has earmarked ₱49.2 million for the management of protected areas in the Central Visayas region last year. DENR-Region 7 Spokesperson Eddie Llamedo said the budget will cover the rehabilitation and reconstruction of protected areas damaged by the calamities that hit the Visayas late last year. In a statement, Mr. Montejo said some 27 protected areas in Central Visayas will be closely monitored. Of the amount allotted, protected areas development and management get the biggest share of the budget at P30.052 million or 61%. The rest of the budget has been allotted for management of coastal and marine resources and areas; and protection and conservation of wildlife.
