A surprising fourth-quarter gain provided a slight boost to farm output, the government yesterday reported, but the full-year result still fell well below the government’s target. Despite super typhoon Yolanda’s impact, the fourth quarter still saw a 1.13% expansion although this was down from the 4.8% a year earlier. The rise was enough to pull up full-year growth from the 1.1% as of September. The fisheries subsector, which contributed 17.96% to last year’s total farm output, grew by 1.23%, a rebound from the 0.25% contraction posted in 2012.en
