    Excerpt
The fisheries production of Guimaras has been rising for the past three years, The Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) records showed. The upsurge was attributed to the rising trend in the municipal fishing, contributing to two-thirds of the province total fishery production. The local government of Guimaras strictly imposes the law against illegal fishing. Fishing boats from other provinces are prohibited from entering the municipal waters and protected marine areas. This allowed more fishing trips for locals, PSA records showed.
