    Fisheries experts meet in Geneva on marine SDG

    Leading experts in sustainable fisheries met in Geneva on Sept. 29, the first meeting at this level since the United Nations adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) last Friday, the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) said in a statement Wednesday. The 14th SDG is to "conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development," according to the SDGs Web site. UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Joakim Reiter emphasized the importance of oceans and ocean resources, like fish, for livelihoods of population, especially in developing countries, the statement read.
