Government still has to formalize its choice on who should head the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department (SEAFDECAQD) in Tigbauan, Iloilo. A treaty agency, SEAFDEC-AQD has been the leading regional research center for the development of inland hatcheries and growout ponds for a variety of marine species. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resource (BFAR) has been shopping around for a new chief for SEAFDEC-AQD, led for the past six years by Dr. Joebert D. Toledo, a fisheries expert rained at the University of the Philippines (UP) and in a leading university in Japan.
