The "Domestication of the mud crab Scylla serrata" of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department's 9SEAFDEC-AQD) is this year's winner of the Elvira O. Tan Memorial Awards for Aquaculture and Marine Fisheries. The award was conferred to the Center's researchers, namely: Dr. Emilis T. Quinitio, Joana Joy dela Cruz, Maria Rowena Equia, Fe Dolores Parado-Estepa, Gaudioso Pates, and Celia r. Lavilla-Pitogo at University of the Philippines Open University's (UPOU) Centennial Center for Digital Learning Auditorium in Lis Baños, Laguna. They received P25,000 and a plaque of recognition.
