DA allots P594 M for irrigation, agri projects in Palawan

The Department of Agriculture is allocating P594-million worth of irrigation projects, farm machinery, and inputs, and fishery initiatives in Palawan, to help make the province sufficient in rice, major staples, fishery and marine products. Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala Said the projects include the construction of the P498- million Ibato-Iraan small reservoir irrigation project that will irrigate 1,600 hectares and will benefit 425 farmers in Aborlan town, covering four barangays( SAgpangan, Maligaya, Ibato, and Iraan) in Palawan. Alcala led the groundbreaking for the irrigation projects last Jan.16.
