Beach Forest Species and Mangrove Associates in the Philippines is the latest contribution of the tandem of Jurgenne Primavera and Rex Sadaba who eight years earlier published the highly acclaimed Handbook of the Mangroves of the Philippines-Panay. The book is a collection of 140 species both familiar and poorly known plants, with 100 treated exhaustively including scientific names, English names, local/regional names, botanical descriptions and folk uses. This book should be found in the libraries of every village school and home, and is available in Metro Manila at the La Solidaridad Bookshop (tel. 254-1068), Museo Pambata (tel. 400-7558, mobile 09178902446), SEAFDEC Manila Office (tels. 455-0981, 927-7855) and Philippine Horticultural Society (mobile 0917-5635474), and from the author (jurgennep@yahoo.com).
