    Excerpt
The Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center-Aquaculture Department is pushing the expansion of broodstocks of donkey's ear abalone (Haliotis asisina) for aquaculture. SEAFDEC-AQD chief Dr. Joebert D. Toledo said the agency has focused on abalone and is working on "a science-based technology that is economically viable and appropriate to the region and will demonstrate developed technologies for seed production and culture". Eventually, he added, SEAFDEC-AQD also develop a microparticulate diet to wen away the abalone from diatoms and create a more balanced diet.
