    Excerpt
The Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) hosted on Saturday the First-ever industry forum for fishery-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen the industry with market opportunities and capacity building initiatives. According to DA undersecretary for Fisheries and BFAR national director Atty. Asis Perez, the event is government's preliminary stride in buoying Philippines' fishery-based MSMEs through tough local and international market competition. Agriculture secretary Proceso J. Alcala considered Philippines fisheries as "one of the prime industries that fuel the country's economy."
