local.seafdecaqd.extract | Husband and wife Amancio and Naomi Dimpas of Barangay Caganganan in Banaybanay, Davao Oriental, who have been fish farming since 1987, are leading the way in organic aquaculture in their community. It was in May 2014 that they started going full organic with assistance from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Region 11 through the grant of 20,000 fingerlings of tilapia and after undergoing training at the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) on the basics of organic farming. The Dimpas farm also serves as a demonstration site for the recently-formed Banaybanay Organic Farming Freshwater Aquaculturist Association (BOFAA), which now has 38 members. | en |
