Fisherfolk belonging to Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) slammed the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) for failing to address the cause of the fish kill in Lake Mainit in Surigao Del Norte. Massive fish kill have infested the Lake Mainit for the last three weeks, affecting thousands of fishermen and fish vendor depending on the lake. Pamalakaya believed that the fish kill was caused by mining operations of Greenstone Resources, Inc. as its tailings pond spills over the lake during heavy rains.en
