local.seafdecaqd.extract | Toxic red tide cases in the provinces of Capiz and Aklan continue to escalate despite expectations by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) that paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) was on the wane due to the onset of the cold months. Red tide has been observed in eight coastal towns in Capiz and Aklan, causing apprehension among aquaculture fish farmers. Found positive for the red tide toxins are the coastal areas of Sapian and Ivisan in Capiz and that of Batan in the province of Aklan. However, red tide is observed downstream and expanded in the aquaculture area of Roxas City, Pontevedra and Pres. Roxas in Capiz and up to Balete and Washington in Aklan. | en |
