    Excerpt
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 needs 8,000 workers for its cash-for-work emergency employment program in Boracay Island. Each worker will receive a daily wage of P323.50 or a total of P9,705 for 30 days, said Regional Director Rebecca Geamala. DSWD-6’s estimate of workers affected by the island’s six-month closure reached some 36,000. It recommended that its national office allot some P500 million to help these workers in the form of sustainable livelihood and cash-for-work programs.
