Southeast Asian Development Center Aquaculture Development (SEAFDEC/AQD) here held its 37th anniversary with the theme, "SEAFDEC at 37 years and counting: Sustainable, Environment-friendly, and Socially-acceptable aquaculture for country, region and the world," recently. Dr. Joebert Toledo, deputy chief of SEAFDEC, said the department was formally established during the 6th meeting of SEAFDEC Council held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia July 3 to 7, 1973. The weeklong anniversary celebration commenced with an Employees' Day July 5, and was followed by a tree-planting and gift-giving activity here July 6.
