local.seafdecaqd.extract | Airport customs authorities on Sunday seized three shipments of milkfish fry that were unloaded separately from three international airlines from Singapore, Hongkong and Malaysia, at the Paicargo and Miascor bonded warehouse of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia). A total of 201 boxes of fish fry, each fish not larger than a tiny needle, were confiscated by the authorities for lack of permit from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Bfar), Naia Customs Police Chief Marlon Alameda said. Milkfish is one of the largest selling fish in almost all public markets in the country. About a fifth of the 25 kilograms of fresh fish consumed by Filipinos each year is bangus_or four kilos of milkfish per person per year, according to the Food and Nutrition Research Institute. | en |
