local.seafdecaqd.extract | Fisher Folks are encouraged to invest in mud crab as an alternative livelihood aside from cultured fishes like bangus and tilapia for them to fully utilize their fish ponds. Roberto Baylon, one of the fisherfolk leaders in Zamboanga Sibugay, said mud crabs serve as good livelihood alternatives for the fisher folks in their community as it gives them a higher yield. A high-value species, mud crabs provide the fisherfolks better income with less effort, he said. For his part, Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center Aquaculture Department (SEAFDEC/AQD) chief Felix Ayson is willing to address the needs of the fisher folks, especially the small-time industry players who lack resource. | en |
