The European Union (EU) has revoked the yellow card warning issued to the Philippines in June 2014 for deficiencies in controlling illegal fishing. In a statement, the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines said it acknowledges the country’s efforts to curb illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and align its fisheries governance to international law. This includes the adoption of a new Fisheries Code that imposes stricter sanctions on violators as well as the improvement of mechanisms for traceability and certification of catch.en
