(PCIC) grew by 24.31 percent in 2014, insuring close to a million in the agricultural workforce. PCIC is a government-owned and controlled corporation under the Department of Agriculture (DA) which currently covers 924.343 farmers and cooperatives. Around 70 percent of the insured were granted full and free insurance coverage under various government programs, which include those for subsistence farmers and fisherfolk, for Typhoon Yolanda affected areas and the agrarian reform beneficiaries, to name a few.en
