20 illegal fishing vessels seized

More illegal fishers were caught in the waters of northern Iloilo. Before dawn yesterday, the Iloilo Bantay Dagat Force and Dumangas Police Station apprehended six motorboats and 17 illegal fishers. The Philippine Fisheries Code defines an active fishing gear as "a fishing device characterized by gear movements, and/or the pursuit of the target species by toeing, lifting, and pushing the gears, surrounding, covering, dredging, pumping and scaring the target species to impoundments."
