The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has set aside ₱718 million for the construction of 252 Community Fish Landing Centers (CFLCs) which will benefit around a third of the fisherfolk population in the country. All 252 sites have already been identified, with construction set this February, and are expected to be completed before year-end, said Nazzer Briguerra, BFAR chief information officer. There are more than 1.4 million individuals involved in the agri-fisheries sector in the estimated 900 coastal municipal waters in the country.
