    BFAR: Red tide in Gigantes

    The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said the coastal waters of Gigantes Islands in Carles, Iloilo is positive for red tide toxin. In Shellfish Bulletin No. 08 dated Mar. 6, 2017, BFAR said all types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the area are not safe for human consumption. BFAR advised against harvesting, selling, buying and eating of all types of shellfish and alamang in Gigantes Islands.
