    Excerpt
The Philippine fisheries bureau on Saturday assured the public that appropriate risk management measures are ready to stop the possible entry into the country of a lake virus attacking tilapia fish in several countries. "Ang ginagawa po namin ngayon is itong tilapia lake virus (TLV) ay hindi makarating dito sa Pilipinas. Kaya very vigilant ... ang quarantine inspectors [natin] sa major seaports and airports," Usec. Eduardo Gongona, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) director told radio dzBB. On the other hand, Gongona said that the bureau is on heightened alert against the TLV threat, and that strict inspection processes in importing live fish are being undertaken, especially those that will be used for breeding tilapia.
