The Iloilo Bantay Dagat Task Force and the Iloilo provincial police claimed to have received threats following their steadfast campaign against illegal fishing. Provincial Administrator Raul Banias, who also received a threat via text message, said it might be the result of the series of apprehensions, particularly of the banned super hulbot operation or Danish seine fishing. He said the text message contains a warning from the suspect, claiming that they hired a killer to shoot dead police officers involved in the implementation of the Fishery Ordinance.
