DA chief to turn over P233M in agri projects for W. Visayas

Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol of the Department of Agriculture (DA) will visit Antique, Guimaras and Iloilo on Aug. 8 to 9, 2017 to lead the turnover of P233 million-worth of agricultural and fishery projects, according to Regional Executive Director Remelyn Recoter. During the farmers’ dialogue dubbed “Tapatan: Gobyerno kag Pumuluyo”, Guimaras farmers and fisherfolk will receive a total of P185 million interventions including the construction of a calamansi processing building and facilities, community fish landing center, 100 units of 20-footer fiber glass boats, mini-four wheel drive tractor, five handtractors, five threshers, five pump and engine sets, six irrigation projects and a seed nursery project. The Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. (PCIC) will also distribute P17,139, 653 indemnity claims to 2,472 farmers.
