    BFAR pushes for fiberglass boats

    The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) urges fisherfolk in Western Visayas to use fishing boats made of fiber. In a press conference Aug. 14, 2017 at Diversion 21 Hotel in Iloilo City, Mateo Doyola Jr. of BFAR-6 said the agency institutionalized the training/capacity building on the construction of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) fishing boats through F/B Pagbabago program. “Fiberglass is a durable material that makes FRP fishing boats dependable compared to wooden boats, which can be used up to three years compared to the former which can lasts up to 20 years,” he said.
