Barangay captains were asked to lead the campaign against catching of gravid and undersize blue crabs locally known as “kasag.” Mayor Jett Rojas of Ajuy, Iloilo said he has talked to the president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) to educate fishermen about the disadvantage of catching kasag. During his time as provincial board member, Rojas passed Provincial Ordinance No. 2012-093 which prohibits the catching or gathering of berried and undersized blue crab. It took effect July 1, 2012.
