The Department of Agriculture (DA) yesterday said that it plans to look for relatively typhoon-free sites to be developed as new food production areas following Nina's extensive damage to agriculture last month. Agriculture secretary Emmanuel Piñol said coastal towns with persistent reports of illegal fishing will be identified in a shame campaign to address the problem. He said he will also recommend the suspension of mayors and barangay officials who fail to stop illegal fishing in their communities, after a consultation with fish industry stakeholders in Lucena.en
