local.descriptionMore than halfway into the implementation of the three-month fishing ban in the Davao Gulf which started in June, compliance has been 100% with no violators caught so far, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 11 (BFAR-11). “We attribute this to the extensive information dissemination campaign we had since last year when the closed season was first implemented,” BFAR-11 Regional Director Fatma M. Idris said. She added: “There are no found violators... Our patrol vessels are operational in strategic positions.” The ban is intended to protect small pelagic fishes during their spawning season.en
