dc.title5 keen on hydro power projects in Laguna Lakeen
The Department of Energy (DOE) has accepted at least six proposals to put up hydropower projects in the Laguna lake with a combined capacity of up to 2,000 megawatts (MW). Marasigan noted the proposals for hydro projects in the lake may have come just recently, since before the Renewable Energy Law was enacted, the National Power Corp. has the exclusive authority to develop water bodies for power development. The largest hydro plants currently in operation are the 739.2 MW Kalayan pumped storage power plant in Laguna of CBK Power Co., 435 MW San Roque in Pangasinan of Strategic Power Development Corp. and 360 MW Magat in Isabela of SN Aboitiz Power Inc.en
