    Excerpt
Iloilo-based commercial fishing operator Jun Borres, along with Edgar Borres and Atty. Jackie Yao announced the fish holiday September 19 afternoon to Iloilo City Hall reporters at his home on De la Rama Street, City Proper. The reason for the holiday is the passage of Republic Act 10654 which amended Section 14 of RA 8850 (Philippine Fisheries Code) on “monitoring, control, and surveillance of fishing in Philippine waters.” Senator Cynthia Villar authored the amendment.
