    Excerpt
The government said Saturday it was studying the possibility of renaming Benham Rise to "Philippine Rise," to strengthen the country's rights over the resource-rich undersea plateau. Manila's move came after Chinese survey ships sailed in the Benham Rise area, putting a spotlight on President Rodrigo Duterte's dealings with Beijing. The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Executive Secretary have been tasked to look into the possible renaming of Benham Rise, Presidential Spokesman Ernesto Abella said.
