    Excerpt
Spanning 181.63 hectares along the coast of Las Piñas and Parañaque, the Las Piñas–Parañaque Wetland Park (LPPWP) is Metro Manila’s last remaining coastal wetland and one of the country’s most important protected areas. Within it lies a 40-hectare mangrove forest, spread across Freedom Island and Long Island, where mangroves thrive on the mix of saltwater from Manila Bay and freshwater flowing from the river, forming a vital ecosystem that benefits both people and wildlife.
