    Excerpt
Fishers from Zambales and Bataan who rely on the West Philippine Sea (WPS) for their livelihood have expressed concern following allegations that Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband Manases Carpio allegedly received millions of pesos from China-linked parties for the vice president’s silence on China’s harassment and violence against Filipino fishers. At a press conference in Subic, Zambales on Sunday morning, the civil society coalition Atin Ito said the allegations against the vice president is deeply alarming and must be answered clearly, especially as Filipino fishers continue to face intimidation, dangerous encounters, and restrictions in their traditional fishing grounds.
