Fifteen individuals were arrested and an estimated P1.98 million worth of boats, fishing equipment, and catch were seized in an anti-illegal fishing operation in the municipal waters of Panay, Capiz, on Thursday night. The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said the suspects, identified as a boat captain and 14 crew members, were caught allegedly conducting illegal fishing activities. All 15 suspects are residents of Carles, Iloilo. The group was reportedly operating without the required mayor’s permit, in violation of Municipal Ordinance 03-02, or the Municipal Fishery Code of 2003.
