Over 600 passengers and crew members escaped disaster Thursday night when two separate passenger vessels suffered engine failures minutes apart off the coast, forcing both ships to abort their voyages and return safely to Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) commander Commodore Rejard Marfe reported on Monday that a total of 624 passengers and 32 crew members returned to port safely following the mechanical incidents. The first incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m., shortly after the MV Prince Glory, operated by Ibnerizam Shipping Lines, departed Zamboanga City Port bound for Jolo, Sulu. Carrying 369 passengers and 18 crew members, the vessel suffered a transmission coupling and flywheel failure.
