Three fishermen who had been stranded in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) for two days were rescued by Philippine Marines yesterday. According to the Marine Battalion Landing Team-9, the fishermen – all residents of Barangay San Piro in Balayan, Batangas – drifted toward an isolated detachment where they were rescued and given assistance. The Marines said the three fishermen – Romeo Carta, Rojin Santillan and Axel Gonzaga – got separated from their mother boat due to rough sea conditions.
