Fifteen fishermen were arrested after they were caught allegedly engaging in illegal fishing within the municipal waters of Panay, Capiz, on Saturday night, with authorities seizing boats, fishing gear, and fish worth an estimated P2.4 million. The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said that during the operation, it was discovered that the group did not have the required mayor’s permit for fishing activities in the area. The arrested fishermen included a 45-year-old boat captain and 14 crew members, all residents of Bantayan, Cebu.
