Fif­teen fish­er­men were arres­ted after they were caught allegedly enga­ging in illegal fish­ing within the muni­cipal waters of Panay, Capiz, on Sat­urday night, with author­it­ies seiz­ing boats, fish­ing gear, and fish worth an estim­ated P2.4 mil­lion. The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) said that dur­ing the oper­a­tion, it was dis­covered that the group did not have the required mayor’s per­mit for fish­ing activ­it­ies in the area. The arres­ted fish­er­men included a 45-year-old boat cap­tain and 14 crew mem­bers, all res­id­ents of Bantayan, Cebu.
