The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 7 office has opened the Visayan Sea for commercial fishing starting Feb. 16, an official said. Allan Poquita, BFAR 7 assistant director, said the Visayan Sea was closed to commercial fishing for three months, starting November 15 last year in time for the spawning season of sardines, herring and mackerel. Poquita said fishing in Visayan Sea resumed since February 16, but warned commercial fishing vessels to stay away from the 15-kilometer municipal waters.
