Ten provinces that were presented with plaques of recognition as "Champions for the West Philippine Sea" expressed their collective support that bolstered the country’s sovereignty over the disputed water. These include Bataan, Batanes, Batangas, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Pangasinan and Zambales. These provinces have taken the lead in promoting public awareness and initiatives related to the WPS.
