    Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez has called for the enactment of a strict conservation efforts for blue swimming crab fishing, emphasizing that an improved monitoring and preservation systems are essential to regain the country’s access to the United States market. Benitez made the statement during a July 24 public hearing of the provincial board to discuss the proposed Blue Swimming Crab Sustainability and Management Ordinance. Benitez noted that the decline of the local crab industry has directly impacted thousands of households in his district.
