The Palawan provincial government has approved an ordinance banning all commercial fishing activities within the municipal waters here to protect marine resources and support small-scale fisherfolk. The ordinance, titled “Palawan Provincial Ordinance Prohibiting All Commercial Fishing Activities Within Municipal Waters in the Province of Palawan,” strengthens the province’s commitment to environmental protection, food security and sustainable development. It aims to give priority to local fishermen who depend on municipal waters for their livelihood, while also helping protect fish stocks and marine ecosystems.
