Farmers, fisherfolk protection in focus in US trade negotiations

The government has vowed to protect the interests of Filipino farmers and fishermen in its trade negotiations with the United States over the Western economy’s reciprocal tariffs, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. said. The country’s negotiating team led by Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go is currently in Washington to discuss the reciprocal tariffs with the US Trade Representative.
