DA pushes action for aquaculture productivity at Laguna de Bay
Excerpt
The Department of Agriculture (DA) is pushing for coordinated action to sustain the productivity of aquaculture powerhouse Laguna de Bay. Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. and Undersecretary for Fisheries Drusila Esther Bayate stressed the need for stronger coordination among government agencies and the private sector following a series of consultations with fisherfolk and aquaculture operators around the lake. These include the DA, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA), the Coast Guard (PCG), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and water concessionaires.
