The Bur­eau of Fish­er­ies and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) has assured fish­er­folk in Bohol province of sus­tained gov­ern­ment sup­port, cit­ing their key role in ensur­ing food secur­ity in the region. BFAR National Dir­ector Elizer Sali­lig made the assur­ance after get­ting a firsthand update on the fish­er­ies sec­tor’s chal­lenges dur­ing a meet­ing with BFAR Region 7 Dir­ector Mario Ruinata, where he also exper­i­enced day-to-day fish­er­ies oper­a­tions firsthand while enga­ging fish­er­folk in a dia­logue to under­stand their chal­lenges.
