    Excerpt
The scenes along the coastal waters of Pasil Fish Port serve as a stark reminder of the continuing challenges of waste management and marine pollution in the Philippines as the world observed World Environment Day 2026 on Friday, June 5. Piles of trash accumulated along the shoreline with various types of waste littering the coastal area beside the fish port as passengers boarded vessels. The issue drew public attention after Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival shared a social media video showing a man dumping a sack of garbage into the seawater near the port.
