dc.descriptionA month-long clean-up drive in this city has mobil­ized dis­ad­vant­aged and dis­placed work­ers to help clear the heav­ily sil­ted and waste-clogged Jaro River sys­tem, as the city gov­ern­ment intens­i­fies efforts to reduce flood­ing risks. The cleanup is part of “Oplan Kon­tra Baha,” launched on Tues­day, May 19, by the Depart­ment of Labor and Employ­ment ( DOLE) Region 6 and the Iloilo City Dis­trict Engin­eer­ing Office. The ini­ti­at­ive involves a coordin­ated water­way clean- up pro­gram cov­er­ing stretches from Hin­ac­tacan and Ticud in La Paz to Tabuc Suba in the Jaro dis­trict.en
