High fuel costs driven by global oil price increases have pushed the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7 to expand subsidy and livelihood programs for fisherfolk in Central Visayas through fuel aid, coastal consultations and new fishing technologies aimed at reducing operating expenses. BFAR 7 Director Mario Ruinata said rising fuel prices remain the top concern raised by fisherfolk during the agency’s Farmers’ and Fisherfolk Month immersion activities and consultations in Bohol.
