    Excerpt
The National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (Namria) has resurfaced a statement clarifying the role of the official Philippine maps and nautical charts in showing and protecting the country’s maritime jurisdiction in the West Philippine Sea (WPS). A recent administrative map of the Philippines published by Namria has included Sabah, formerly Northern Borneo, which is the subject of a century-old dispute between a private claimant – the Sultanate of Sulu, Malaysia, and the Philippines, which maintains a dormant claim over the territory in recent years.
