Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and his counterpart in the United States on Saturday discussed "recent" events in the South China Sea, and vowed to be in "close contact," the US Department of Defense said. Lorenzana and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin III's phone conversation came just days after the China Coast Guard vessels blocked and water-cannoned two Philippine resupply boats near Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal last Tuesday.
